New home, new keys, and a long list of openings to protect: the front entry, the alfresco slider, the laundry door and every window you want open on a warm night. Most homes in Aura are handed over with flyscreens, and many owners upgrade to barrier screens soon after. Both keep the insects out. Neither is security.

This guide is for homeowners in Baringa, Banya, Nirimba and Caloundra West. It explains what genuine security screens and doors are, compares the different products we offer and install, and shows which one suits each part of your home, your street appeal and your budget.

In short: a security screen or door is tested as a complete system to Australian Standard AS 5039. Choose Decoview for a custom front entry, SecureView or Prowler Proof Forcefield for strong 316 stainless steel security with the best visibility on any door, or perforated aluminium for security on a smaller budget. Every security door we install comes with a triple lock as standard and is installed to Australian Standards.

Your flyscreen keeps bugs out. It won't keep intruders out.

A standard flyscreen is fibreglass, light aluminium or pet (paw) mesh. It can be pushed in by hand or cut with a pocket knife in seconds. Barrier screens are sturdier and look tougher, so they're a good step up for insects and everyday wear. Flyscreens and barrier screens are standard on many new homes in Aura.

But a barrier screen isn't tested or certified to resist a forced entry. If you leave the main door open for the breeze, or answer the door to someone you don't know, that screen is all that stands between your family and outside. For the full comparison, read security screens vs barrier screens.

What makes a genuine security screen or door?

Security isn't defined by how strong the mesh looks. The infill, frame, locks and installation all work together. To meet AS 5039, the complete screen or door is tested against the ways intruders actually try to get in:

  • Impact: repeated heavy blows to the screen.
  • Knife shear: attempts to cut through the mesh.
  • Jemmy: levering the door away from its frame.
  • Pull and probe: tearing the infill out and probing for the lock.

A certified door also needs quality locking and a correct installation. That's why every door we fit has a triple lock and is professionally installed by our licensed team.

Which product solves your problem?

  • "I want my home to stand out from the street." Decoview, with a laser-cut design made for your home.
  • "I want to see who's at the door or look out onto my alfresco entertainment area and keep the view." SecureView or Forcefield.
  • "I want the cleanest concealed finishes with the strongest protection for my home." Prowler Proof Forcefield, with welded frames and concealed interlocks.
  • "I want genuine security on a tighter budget." Perforated aluminium.

Or mix and match. Make the front door a feature with Decoview, fit SecureView or Forcefield to your alfresco sliders and main living areas, then use perforated aluminium on the side of the house or the laundry door. Every option is a genuine security product, so your whole home is protected.

Decoview: a front entry that's uniquely yours

In a new estate, many homes share similar facades. Decoview gives your front entry a look no one else on the street has. It's a security screen system built from strong aluminium with a laser-cut design, so the pattern itself provides the strength.

  • Custom to your home: choose a design that suits your facade, or create your own.
  • Colour-matched: powder-coated to suit your window frames, garage door or render.
  • Secure and stylish: a triple lock as standard, with insect mesh behind the design.

Best for: front entries where first impressions matter.

SecureView: clear views on every door

Want to see who's at the front door, or keep an eye on the kids in the backyard? SecureView uses a fine woven mesh of 0.8mm marine-grade 316 stainless steel, held in an extruded aluminium frame. It suits every window and door in your home: hinged front entries, sliding alfresco doors, stackers, and laundry or side doors.

  • Clear outlook: see visitors and deliveries before you open up.
  • Breeze without the bugs: leave the main door open on warm evenings.
  • Made for the coast: 316 stainless steel resists salt air and humidity.

Best for: any door where you want light, airflow and visibility with the strength of 316 stainless steel.

Prowler Proof Forcefield: premium protection, concealed finishes

Prowler Proof Forcefield also suits every door in the home, and adds premium features for those who want the highest level of protection and the cleanest finish. Its marine-grade 316 stainless steel mesh sits in a heavy-duty aluminium frame that's welded, not screwed or riveted together.

  • Welded frames: seamless corners leave no weak joints to attack.
  • Concealed interlocks on sliding doors: where the panels meet, the interlock is hidden, giving a cleaner look and nothing exposed to tamper with.
  • Extra-long striker plates: spread the locking point further into the door frame for added protection against levering.
  • Tested beyond break-ins: Prowler Proof tests Forcefield for cyclone, bushfire and salt-spray performance as well as security.

Forcefield costs a little more than SecureView. Every home and every family is different, so we discuss your options and provide honest insights so you can make an informed decision on what best suits your home and any special requirements.

Best for: alfresco sliding doors, stacker doors and any home wanting maximum protection with the cleanest finish.

Perforated aluminium: genuine security for less

Want certified security without the premium price? Perforated aluminium security screens and doors are our most affordable option. A solid aluminium sheet with a pattern of small holes gives strength, airflow and extra daytime privacy, as it's harder to see in than out.

Best for: budget-conscious upgrades, side doors and windows facing neighbours.

Want your windows to match? We also make security window screens in 316 stainless steel mesh and perforated aluminium.

Triple locks come standard

Every security door we install comes with a triple lock. It secures the door at three points along its edge, so it's far harder to lever open than a single-point lock. There's no upgrade to pay for.

Securing the whole home: where to start

  • The front entry: leave the main door open for airflow and speak to visitors without opening up.
  • The alfresco slider or stacker: usually the largest opening, and the one you'll want open most.
  • The laundry or side door: out of sight from the street, which makes it a common weak point.
  • Bedroom and living windows: the ones you want open at night. Upstairs bedrooms may need fall prevention screens, or you can use security screens throughout.

Common questions

Is a barrier screen the same as a security door?

No. A barrier screen is a stronger insect screen and a good visual deterrent, but it isn't certified to AS 5039. A security door is tested as a complete system to resist forced entry.

Do your security screens and doors meet Australian Standards?

Yes. Decoview, SecureView, Prowler Proof Forcefield and our perforated aluminium screens and doors are all compliant to Australian Standards, including AS 5039 for security screens.

Do your security doors come with a triple lock?

Yes. A triple lock comes standard on every security door we install.

Which security door is best for my home?

It depends on each opening and what matters most to you. Decoview suits a statement front entry. SecureView and Forcefield both suit every door, and perforated aluminium is the most affordable. Many Aura homes combine two or more, and we'll recommend the right mix at your free measure and quote.

What's the difference between SecureView and Prowler Proof Forcefield?

Both use marine-grade 316 stainless steel mesh, are compliant to Australian Standards and can be fitted to every door. Forcefield adds welded frames, concealed interlocks on sliding doors and extra-long striker plates. It costs a little more, so we'll help you decide whether those extras suit your home.

How much do security doors cost?

The price of a security front door can vary from home to home. As a guide, a 316 stainless steel mesh hinged front security door starts from $1,100 inc. GST.

Looking for a more affordable option? Perforated aluminium security doors cost less and are still a genuine security door, not a barrier or insect screen.

Every door we install comes standard with a triple lock and is compliant to Australian Standards. What changes the price is your opening and the door you choose:

  • Height and width: larger doorways need a larger door. A 1200mm wide opening costs more than a standard 820mm opening, and a 2400mm high door costs more than a 2050mm one.
  • Build-outs: some openings need a build-out so the door can be fitted correctly and meet Australian Standards.
  • Mesh and brand: the type of security mesh and the brand of door both affect the price. For example, Forcefield costs a little more than SecureView.

These examples are based on a front hinged door. Sliding doors have their own requirements, but the same principle applies: the larger the opening, the higher the price. We explain everything at your free measure and quote, so you know exactly what you are paying for before you decide.

Do you install security doors in Baringa, Banya, Nirimba and Caloundra West?

Yes. We install security doors and screens right across Aura, including Baringa, Banya and Nirimba, as well as Caloundra West and Caloundra, through to Pelican Waters and Golden Beach.
